In The Digital Age, You Need Corporate Video Production

More and more businesses today are turning to corporate video production in order to promote their goods and services. We are living in the digital age, and people no longer want to read about products and services from a catalogue. They simply want to go online and learn about it, not just read about it. In fact, only in the last week or two, in reports of the downturn in the High Street, one of the shops closing most often was the bookshop.

Let’s face it, why read about something if you can see it in action on a video? Suppose I want to buy a strimmer. Sure, I can read an ad in a newspaper and see a photo of it, I can send away for a catalogue, or I can click on a website and see the strimmer in action. I can see how well it cuts away long grass. I can see how it can get into a small area behind a tree or whatever.

The demonstrator can show me how easy it is to clean using a strimmer or change a part if needed. I can watch it all with my own eyes, and you certainly can’t get all that from a catalogue.

Types of Corporate Videos to Use in Your Next Marketing Campaign

‘Corporate video’ is used to describe a range of different types of video formats each used for their own specific purposes. Below are some of the main types of corporate video content that you can choose from for your next marketing campaign or internal communications initiative.

Promotional and marketing content

The first thing people usually think of when they think of corporate video production is promotional and marketing content. This kind of content can be used to showcase a company’s specific services or products, for example. The nature of the video will obviously differ depending on the type of business, but the process usually involves taking as aspect or asset of an organisation and making it a central feature of the video. This could be as simple as capturing a physical item to be retailed at a supermarket, or something on a much larger scale, like 360 Google street view tours, 360 panoramic photography or an aerial video of a property development project.

What is Corporate Video?

Corporate videos broadly describes a range of video communication types that are used to support the branding and corporate messaging of an organisation. In reality, the processes and actual content may not look that different to traditional video footage, however, corporate video production focuses on different objectives that are usually commercially focused.

This means that instead of primarily entertaining or informing an audience, corporate videos are designed to showcase the attributes of a particular entity so that customers or stakeholders will be more willing to invest their time and money.

An example of internal corporate videos may include employee training videos and promotional videos for new product lines or services aimed at existing employees. This shows just how versatile corporate videos can be, as they’re not simply used to sell a product to a potential costumer, but can often support other goals of a company.

In the past, video was not a common medium found in the marketing communications of smaller enterprises due to the large upfront costs. However, because technology has advanced so much today, budget constraints are no longer as big an issue as they used to be and for a reasonable amount and a healthly ROI, many small organisations can access the world of corporate videos for their benefit.

Additionally, combined with the falling costs of equipment and software, the ability to host and distribute video content online has become much simpler, meaning everyone can be their own digital outlet of video content, either through their websites or social media. Numerous studies have shown how engagement spikes when there is video content included in marketing messages.

Now You Can Shoot Aerial Videos Without A Helicopter.

Oh yes, you can! Not very many years ago, if you wanted to shoot an aerial video for whatever purpose, be it to demonstrate a product, show a view of a building or an estate, or for any other purpose, there was only one way to do it. Hire a helicopter or another light aircraft and shoot the video from that.

Of course, that could be horrifically expensive. Suppose you want to charter a helicopter for a 30-minute flight over London to go sightseeing? An AS350 which seats six is quoted as “from” £1,950. If you are going to be shooting an aerial film, you might need it for a couple of hours at least!!

However, today at Slamm Productions we have our own “helicopters”. They are called UAVs – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – otherwise known as drones, and they are a lot cheaper than a helicopter!
Our latest UAV’s are extremely stable, even when the wind is gusting, and provide a very stable platform to shoot film from. We can shoot aerial videos, aerial stills, and aerial 360° panoramas. These UAVs can fly fast, track subjects, and perform a host of other functions..

You Can Demonstrate A Product In Action On A Video

There are more and more companies today springing up that are providing business video production services. Now that we have the internet, many more businesses are realising that the best way to promote themselves, their products, and their services is by demonstrating them in action. You can’t do that in a newspaper advert or a flyer that you get delivered to peoples’ letterboxes, but you most certainly can using video.

Not only can you demonstrate your products in action on video, but that is the way people prefer to go today. They just don’t want to sit down and read about something: they prefer to see it in action. Even if you don’t have a physical product but provide a service, most people would rather watch a video having someone tell them about it than read about it.

That this is the case is underlined by businesses who use business video production and provide printed or written material online as well. They understand that most people want to see video, but they also understand that there are still some people who prefer to read, and so they produce their message in both formats – verbal and written. However, when they do this you will find that very often it is the case that the actor or whoever is shown on the video is actually saying exactly the same words that are in the written version.

True, some people, such as this writer, do prefer the written version. I prefer it for the simple reason that I can read twice as fast as someone can tell me about it, but I am most certainly in the minority.

Video Is The Way Forward In The 21st Century

With the rise and rise of YouTube people today want to watch video. They don’t want to sit and read a PDF or sit and read a leaflet, they want to watch video.

The fact is that you can do so much more with video than you ever can with a PDF or a leaflet. If you are trying to sell a product and you use a printed leaflet, you first have to get that leaflet into the hands of your potential customer. Once they have the leaflet, they then have to read it and you very probably included two or three pictures of your product so that the potential customer can see what it looks like. However, he can’t see it actually performing as it is meant to perform.

This is why promotional videos are so much better. You don’t have to send anything to the potential customer, you do the opposite. You send your customer to the sales video. You can promote sales videos on YouTube, or you can promote them on your own website. The point is that you can demonstrate your product on a video showing it IN ACTION. The potential customer can SEE it doing what it is supposed to do and producing whatever result it is supposed to produce. That is far more convincing than showing a photograph or two on a promotional leaflet.

If you don’t want to get left behind by your competition, then video is the way to go.

Reasons for the Smaller Business to Use Video

Video is being used more and more by businesses to promote their goods and services in the 21st century and there is no doubt that the use of video will increase because people today EXPECT to see video rather than simply reading an advert.

We KNOW that video sells because companies have been advertising on TV since 1955 and there is no doubt that it is expensive. This is why only larger companies can afford to do it, but it works for them otherwise they wouldn’t do it. But today, smaller companies can enter the fray as well – not on TV but on the internet. You can get a video production company to make a video of your products or services including a ½ day shoot on site for less than £700 plus their travel costs.

You can then upload the video to your website or to YouTube and you are good to go. You can compete with the big boys by using a video production services company. Your general advertising can then be used to direct your visitors to your video where they can see your product doing whatever it does or see a full 360° view of it which they can’t see on a half-page advert. As an example, a half page ad in The Garden magazine of the RHS costs £4,995 and it is only going to be seen for one month. With video production costs so much lower, and a video which you may be able to show for years, the answer is obvious.

Video in the 21st Century Is Essential To Sell Products & Services

If you want to sell your goods and services in 2019 you absolutely MUST start using video. If you don’t, you are going to get left behind, because more and more people expect to see video rather than reading about a product or service and seeing a handful of photos.

To give you an idea, here are some figures on YouTube. Note that these date from December 2017. At that point, nearly 5 billion videos were being watched on YouTube every day, with 300 hours of fresh content being added every minute. The number of hours people spent watching videos on the platform had increased by 60% year on year. Over 50% of the views were from mobile devices. In an average month, eight out of ten 18 to 49-year-olds watched YouTube. And those figures are 18 months old.

This is why you absolutely must begin to include corporate video production into your marketing budget. Of course, you don’t have to upload your corporate videos to YouTube, although there is nothing stopping you from doing so. You can simply include them on your own website. Then you can use other advertising for the sole purpose of directing people to your video where they can learn in more detail about your products or services. So, for example, you can have a 360° video of your product while someone talks about what it is and does. Depending on the nature of your product, you could then just send a viewer to a page where he or she can order online.

Get Your Products Noticed With Corporate Videos.

Today, we are in the 21st century and it is very much the digital age. People expect to be able to go online and look at locations, products or services. They want to see products from every angle and see believable tours of locations before they buy  They don’t want to see half a dozen photos if they can watch a video of a holiday destination on the companies website YouTube channel.

A video is so much more believable than just words or even a still photograph. It provides much more detail. For instance, you can show a photo of your hotel front on your website, and perhaps a photo of the garden. With a video you can show the hotel front, then walk into reception, show the lounge, the restaurant, one or two of the bedrooms, and of course you can introduce members of your staff. This gives people a far better picture of what your hotel is about and how enjoyable it would be to spend their time with you. This is why more and more businesses are turning to corporate video production today.

The Rise of Aerial Videos for Promotion

Aerial photography used to be something for the wealthy and privileged, and large companies that could afford to spend a small fortune hiring a helicopter for a day or more. However, all that has changed with the recent rapid growth in the ownership of UAV’s.

Otherwise known as drones, UAV’s can be purchased online for less than £100, so lots of people are investing in them for a bit of fun flying. These are only small, but for a few hundred pounds you can buy a drone with cameras installed and now you can take aerial photographs. Better still are drones that have video cameras installed.

For this reason, lots more businesses are looking at aerial photography, and in particular aerial videos, as a way of promoting their businesses, their products, and their services. When you start to think outside the box, there are lots of benefits to aerial video production. Certainly, it depends on the products or services that a business offers, since aerial photography might not be much use at promoting, for example, Nike shoes. Then again, who knows?

The point is that you can get an aerial video produced quite cheaply now that we have drones. In order to fly these, the pilot needs to have passed exams and be licenced by the CAA, but more people are doing so. So you can have your promotional video made, load it up on YouTube and/or your website, direct people to it, and just let it sit there as another means of promotion.

Companies Are Using Video More and More For Advertising

YouTube gets gazillions of views every day as just about everyone can use a mobile to make a video, then load it up so that all his or her friends can see what they have been doing, how the dog fell in the pond, or the stupid-looking fancy dress outfit that they wore to a party.

However, not everyone is using it for fun, as more and more businesses, large and small, have come to the conclusion that videos can really help to boost their profits. And it’s true – they can.

This helps to explain the growth of corporate video production services that are available, with skilled creatives who can shoot professional videos in order to promote products and services. A corporate video production company today can produce video ads to television standards using actors, presenters, voice-overs, graphics, cartoons, animation, and more, in order to present products and services in the way that people today want to see them – that is on their mobiles and tablets. Even the humble laptop is being used less, as people look at their mobiles on the go.

Let’s be honest, the mobile phone today is actually a portable computer that just happens to have a phone in it, amongst other things! So if you can get a corporate video production company to produce a classy video that can be loaded on to YouTube and your website, you have another great means of promoting your products or services to an ever-growing audience.
